Croatia wins group with Later Perisic winner

Huge upset today in the European Championships as a Croatia team who benched several of their players including star man Luka Modric, defeated Spain late as they avoid a much tougher road to the final.

All was going well for La Roja early on with Fabregas providing runs forward that helped open up the Croatian backline after a low cross saw Alvaro Morata begrudgingly put the ball in the back of the net to put up Spain 1-0 early on.

Spain looked rather lackadaisical and even though they fielded what Del Bosque feels is his strongest 11, they grew weary and uninventive as time went on. Aduriz sub was questionable and Bruno in my opinion was a very defensive move that showed Del Bosque was more scared to lose than to ensure they won the group.

Perhaps they need to rotate quicker as the fatigue was apparent to some of the players. After all, with Spain having arguably the deepest roster in the Euros, players like Thiago, Koke and even Bellerin perhaps should feature in their next game to provide an extra dimension.

In a team though shadowed by Stars Modric and Rakitic, it was the Inter man Perisic and his brilliant game that made the difference as the extra burst of speed helped him get off the crucial shot against Pique and a very poor attempt to block it by David De Gea.

Spain will now face Italy for the 3rd European Championship in a row(Final in 12′ and RO16 in 08′) who come into the match looking like a Wall that would make Donald Trump jealous. The road gets even more difficult for the winner of that match as they will potentially face Germany in the Quarters and France in the Semis. Meanwhile Croatia now are co favorites on their side of the bracket to make the final as their side present a much more achievable road to the final in Paris.
