Germany Thrash Portugal behind Thomas Müller hat trick

In what was one of the most one sided affairs Germany thrashed Portugal by 4 goals today.

Thomas Müller added a hat trick behind an opening penalty kick after seeing his teamate Mario Goetze get taken down in the area. He then later on added a second behind a strike from a pass into the area that was deflected from Bruno Alves. He finally added a 3rd goal in the 78th minute, shooting the ball in from a rebound.

Portugal had trouble in the beginning and Pepe all but insured their fate by getting red carded early on. A rather stupid head butt saw Portugal go down to 10 men. Fabio Coentrao also was carted off in an injury who will now have Portugal with 2 of their 4 starting defenders to be missing for the game against the US in their second group encounter.

Germany will look to keep the goals rolling in in their second match against Ghana. Portugal will have their World Cup Hopes on the line when they face the USA in their second match.
