Liverpool, Manchester City Raise the Stakes heading into Week 37

Liverpool will look to be getting back on track after a disappointing 0-2 loss to Chelsea this past weekend. Mourinho set up his squad to a conservative approach that brought fruition. His team plugged any holes and although at times Luis Suarez looked dangerous, Chelsea did not succumb to any goals and got 3 valuable points behind goals from Demba Ba and Willian. Demba Ba found fortune when the Liverpool captain committed a very rare mistake that sent Ba one on one with Mignolet. Willian then put in a goal when he and Torres ran up the pitch to seal the victory. Liverpool will travel to Sellhurst Park to take on Crystal Palace for much needed 3 points. Suarez was quoted as saying that anything but the premiership title will be a failure for this season. The last time the two faced, Liverpool routed them 3-1.

Manchester City looks to keep up the pressure for first when they visit Goodison Park in the match of the weekend. Roberto Martinez told the press that any pressure of losing to City to put Liverpool’s title hopes in ruins have not come to his mind. They will fight to the death. City will get a lift with news that David Silva will be fit for the match. Game will be shown at 12:30 EST on NBC.

Mourinho’s squad looking to bounce back after they bounced out of Europe on Wednesday night. Contrary to Jose playing down their chance, they are very much still in the title race. They host Norwich City on Sunday morning and will have to do without one of their Midfield enforcers Ramires behind a 5 match ban. The blues will be hoping that the reds and city drop points to put them in first place. Chelsea have shown grit and heart all season and can never be counted out. Norwich will fight tooth and nail though as they sit on 32 points, tied with Sunderland but behind only on goal difference. A single point from this match would be monumental to stay up top. Game is on Sunday at 11 AM EST

Other notable matches include Manchester United vs Sunderland. Sunderland are coming off a big win @ Stamford Bridge (1st loss for Mourinho ever at home in the premiership). They will try to keep momentum and stay afloat the relegation zone.

Arsenal also will try to ensure champions league football when they host West Brom on Sunday at 8:30 AM EST. The gunners are coming off a 3-0 rout of Newcastle last week. Their form has picked up in recent weeks and Wenger will take nothing but the best going forth to ensure Champions League football next campaign.
