Netherlands Thrash Spain 4 years after World Cup Final

It was 4 years ago when these two teams last met that saw Spain lift their first ever World Cup Trophy.

The game started off with Spain controlling the Tempo and drawing first blood after Diego Costa was brought down in the area and had Spain awarded a penalty. Xabi Alonso comfortably slotted in the penalty and Spain looked hungry for more.

Van Gaal’s tactical setup and patience paid off though and La Oranje leveled the score behind a remarkable header from their star captain Robin Van Persie.

The second half was a completely different story with goals from Robben early on and a goal from a Cross put the Netherlands up 3-1 at the 65th minute.

Robben and Van Persie added two more goals and handed a defending champion their worst loss in the history of the tournament.

Spain will look to get back on track against Chile on June 18th and the Netherlands will Tangle with Australia to try and secure a spot in the knockout rounds.
